Lady Thunderbirds struggle at home triangular

TOWANDA — Three Lady T-Bird volleyball players were honored at Tuesday night’s triangular
for their contributions during their four years of playing on the volleyball team.

Seniors Brennan Patty, Camron Perry, and Shae Weatherson were all honored before the team
took to the court for their second match of the evening. Sadly the festivities did not help the T-
Birds that much. Circle fell to McPherson and Buhler in two sets.

“We came out flat in the first set against McPherson, and unfortunately and inexcusably it set
the tone for the rest of the evening for us,” head coach Shelly Nibarger said. “We will work hard
in practice this week to compete at a higher level on Saturday.”

The team is 13-0 in tournament play and host the Circle Invitational this Saturday.
McPherson dominated the evening sweeping the triangular and defeating all their opponents in
two sets.

The Lady T-Birds started their evening against McPherson. In the first set, Circle took the lead
early, but allowed the Bull Pups to come roaring back. The game was tied at 2-2 with
McPherson taking a five point lead and building on that to win 25-11.
In the second set, Circle was able to go neck-and-neck with the Bull Pups. Both teams vied for
the advantage with the lead flipping back-and-fourth every few points. It wasn’t until the end of
the match that McPherson was able to pull away and win 25-20.

Circle closed their evening with two sets against Buhler. Once again the Lady T-Birds played a
close game, but fell short in the end to loose 26-24. The Crusaders took charge of the second
set and never let go to win 25-16.

McPherson finished the evening 2-0, Buhler 1-1 and Circle 0-2.
