Rierson to grace Butler with special performance

EL DORADO – Butler Community College’s Life Enrichment will host Rusty Rierson on Dec. 5 at 9 a.m.at the Hubbard Welcome Center of the Butler of El Dorado campus. Rusty, a native of Leon and a former Butler student, will sing a variety of covers, original songs and holiday music. At 10 a.m., Vince Marshall of Valley Center will present “Dowsing for History Clues.” Marshall teaches dowsing (also called divining, doodling and witching), an old, low-tech predecessor of metal detectors, ground-penetrating radar and infrared sensors. Marshall uses dowsing to find clues to an area’s history. He has used dowsing to find graves, old trails, abandoned railroads, buried cables and outlines of long-gone houses and buildings.

Life Enrichment meets on the first Tuesday morning of the month during the school year. Area adults enjoy high-quality speakers and performers, along with a light breakfast and coffee at each regular meeting. Meetings take place in the Clifford/Stone Community Room at the Hubbard Welcome Center on the El Dorado campus. Meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. Those who attend regularly are encouraged to register so they receive monthly newsletters announcing the programs. New members are always welcome.
