WICHITA – Most everyone wants to help out our police officers, but Kansas Police Chiefs are warning that someone is doing some phony telemarketing in their name. The group is trying to raise money on behalf of the Kansas Association of Police Chiefs, but the problem is – the Association has never heard of them, much less seen any of the money.
“On behalf of the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police it has been brought to our attention that citizens of the state of Kansas have been receiving phone calls from an unknown telemarketing company claiming to be representing the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police.” said Association Executive Director Jennifer Duffy. “The KACP currently DOES NOT have anyone working on our behalf to solicit funding through telemarketing. Please DO NOT give out personal information or money to anyone claiming to be with the Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police.”
Duffy says if you have donated funds or have received a call, you are encouraged to reach out to your local law enforcement.
