ANDOVER – A new group of community leaders has banded together to try to lead the effort in reducing poverty in the area. The organizers of the initiative known as “Thrive Andover” will have their first meeting next Thursday.
The group says they would aim to help steer those who have fallen on extremely hard times toward a more secure and stable future. The group would classify ten “leaders” who are currently impoverished and pair them up with middle class residents (known as “allies”) of the area with a goal of establishing an intentional friendship.
The first meeting is designed to explain the program, which began in El Dorado under the name Thrive Butler.
The first meeting will be held January 11th, at 6:00 PM, at the Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. For more information, you can contact Michelle Carlini at (316) 733-1423.
